Sons In Retirement (SIR) is a non-profit public benefit corporation for retired men. SIR assists men in renewing old friendships and making new friends through SIR activities. Having fun is our goal. We have more than 22,300 members in 160 Branches throughout northern California from Bakersfield to the Oregon border and Lake Tahoe to the Pacific Ocean.

Membership is open to men semi-retired and retired from full-time occupation, regardless of age, race, color or religion. There are no dues, fees or assessments. Member volunteer staff administers and govern all Branch activities. Voluntary member contributions provide for these activities. SIR supports no outside cause or interest. We prohibit discussions of politics and religion or the selling of anything to any member. The only requirements to join SIR are that a man be retired, or semi-retired, and sponsored by an active member.

Each Branch has monthly luncheon meetings where Sirs renew old friendships and establish new ones. Speakers are invited to speak on topical subjects of general interest. Branch 175 meets at noon, usually (but not always) on the 4th Thursday of each month at Pardiniís Restaurant. Check the ĎCalendarí page to confirm the meeting date for a particular month.

The Sierra Branch #175 has active golf, bowling, and bridge groups. Twice a year we invite our wives or lady friends to our Thursday luncheons, and special programs are provided.

Prospective members need to attend at least one luncheon meeting as a guest to be considered for membership. Ask a SIR friend to sponsor you. If you donít know any local SIR members, contact one of the officers listed on the contact list in this web site and they will be happy to sponsor you or provide a sponsor.

We have a wide variety of activities, just look at the selection over to the right side of the page.  You will find the contact information and, usually, a report of the latest happenings in that group. If a member cannot find a favorite activity, we invite him to start it!
